Being Mindful of Your Needs in Every Moment

We need new ink cartridges for our color printer. If you have one of those thingiemajingies that print stuff, then you know that their accessories aren’t too cheap.

Our printer’s ink cartridges go for $32.00. That money can buy a yummy dinner for two, an article of clothing, a pair of shoes, a video game, a text book, at least half a tank of gas (full tank if you have a Prius), a haircut, a nice gift for someone else, or a bag of dog food.

What’s my point? My point is that there are sooo many other ways (desirable ways) to spend $32 buckaroos. But, we need ink cartridge.

Having this in mind for some time now, I happened to stumble upon an Office Max coupon — a very decent coupon, too. It offers a whole $10.00 off of a purchase of $20.00 or more.

What’s the catch? Well it’s not too big of a catch, but it does technically qualify as a catch, that is — not many Office Maxes around here. Bit of a downer … well, at first. Then I think, “Wait a second, I happen to be heading down that way for a few other stops in that general direction. I think I can make an Office Max pit stop on my way down when I head down that way.there.”

Here’s the insight (from Spartan, my personal Angel of Resources):

Such a purchasing event will require some careful (but still easy) planning. It requires that one be mindful of what his/her needs are, that one be present in any given moment, and that one be aware of his/her surroundings. Lastly, it requires that one trust the universe to meet his/her every need, no matter the size of the need.

I feel like a winner! I find this to be very cool, especially because I am paying less for something that I really didn’t want to pay ‘x’ amount for. Plus, if I were to add up these situations, my savings would grow exponentially or at the very least I would be happier paying what I really wish to pay for any given thing.

Peace and Blessings
