10 Characteristics To Following Your Own Path

September 10, 2019 By ReginaofKiHealing

Pathway of steps down to a vast ocean
khachik simonian

“…far better to live your own path imperfectly than to follow another’s imperfectly.” – Bhagavad Gita

It’s not always easy to blaze your own trail. People worry you’re losing it. Heck! If you’re being honest, there’s a part of you that worries you’re losing it, too. 🙃 You worry about letting your loved ones down. You don’t want to fail at life, but you also know that you can’t continue going on in this same way.

“The same way.”  This same way is the way your family has done life before you and continues to this day. It’s the same way your friends plus nearly everyone you know does life. You know what I mean—it’s the proven path way.

Yet, you yearn for something different.

Is a bunch of sameness getting to you? Feel restless about your future? Do you have a vision? Do you see something different for yourself on the horizon of your life? Have you been leading a mostly decent conventional lifestyle but feeling unfulfilled even though you think you should be?

To live even a little bit off the beaten path means living outside what’s centrally popular. In other words courageous friend, you sorta kinda out there! 😘

Your dreams may be more on the unconventional side of life compared to the status quo lifestyle you’re living now. How well acquainted are you with the option of taking the road less traveled?

A unique life path awaits you. 🛤️

Dear courageous one, these are the 10 most important characteristics you need to following your own unique life path, so get out your knapsack on a stick. Let’s get going! It’s time to explore.

#1 Vision : You know there’s something calling you. You feel it stirring within. What’s your vision? What pops up in your mind’s eye when you feel that stirring sensation?

Do you see travel? Do you see a partner? Do you see a product? It’s your vision that rolls out your life path. As you have more clarity of vision, you get further along your path. 🌈

Sometimes there are periods in life when it seems our vision has gone. We don’t see anything and we may ask ourselves if we ever had the vision at all 🤔. Trust your vision. Spend time getting reacquainted with your vision. It’ll come back to you, ready to jump back into your heart; just open your arms!

You need vision in order to move along progressively. It’s like the guide you need to have by your side as you trek. Without that vision you may not have the impetus to get steppin’, let alone know where you’re going. It’s the vision that ushers the journey. So let your visions show you the way!

Even if you can only see a tiny peek of the vision, what do you see? Take some time out to see.

One way to work with your vision is to journal what comes to you. Do ideas come to you while your day dreaming or driving? Meditation helps with clarity. Spending time in nature, going out for peaceful walks and asking for clarity also helps. You can also ask your guardian angels to help you to see a more clear picture.

The most important piece of information I can give you is to be receptive and relax, allowing your mind to be clear so that it can see the full vision. I’d love to hear about your vision!

#2 Support : What or who do you think of when you think of the word, ‘Support’? Who or what helps you to bear the weight of something in a healthy positive way? Who or what helps you stay lifted? What’s there to remind you that “yes, you can”.

You can count on support, it’s trustworthy. It’s consistent. The support you receive is strong. It’s weight bearing. When you feel like you’re carrying the world’s weight, taking on too much and feeling overwhelmed, it’s a clear cue to open to receive support from where it comes (hey! shout out to the Great Universe 😍). It’s time to lighten your load. Support will hold you up!

Don’t feel ashamed or too prideful to be a recipient of support in all its forms. The very definition of support is to hold up and bear weight. It’s there to do that for you. So, think twice if you think you should be able to do it all yourself. Like the ebb and flow of life, there are times when you’re up and times when you’re down. It’s the natural order. Because everything is connected in our world support will be there when you need it. You may have to reach out and ask for it or it maybe it could be offered to you. It will be there. Love yourself and help yourself. Allow support to do what it does.  🙌

You hear people say, “it’s called a road less traveled for a reason!” I mean, yeah, it is less traveled … because, well, it’s not always the easiest route to take. BUT you know that already. And, that’s why my courageous friend, you are reading this post.

As you walk your unique life path, remember Support. It’s there! You’re supported, always.

#3 Big Why : Do you know your big why? The journey of following your own path can be arduous. Knowing your big why will keep you inspired and continue to drive you on your trek.

You may have seen Simon Sinek’s popular TED Talk “Start With Why”. His mission is to help others do work that inspires them. He says making money is not a why, it’s a result. The ‘why’ he’s talking about is the one that asks the following:

Why do you exist? Why do you get out of bed in the morning? What’s your purpose? What’s your cause? What’s your belief?

I just love these questions. These are questions that keep me up and keep me going. Have you asked yourself these? Got answers? If you do, I’d love to hear 👍!

Simon says finding the answer to these questions is key, because when we know the answer to these questions, they will be what drives us!

Our big why is the reason we do what we do. How do we know if it’s the right answer? It feels right. Knowing what your “big why” is and then actually articulating it will better inspire action within yourself as well as with others, like your clients, colleagues, friends or family. That’s pretty cool🌸.

If you don’t know what your big why is, treat yourself right and take the time to do so. If you have already put your why into words, the next thing is stay familiar with those words! You can frame these words or just put them up somewhere you can see them frequently.

Articulating why you exist provides a clear sense of destination with a good dose of inspiration … just what you need to keep going on your path.

#4 Hope & Belief : When I first wrote this, I didn’t pay attention to the order. I just knew that belief & hope are definite must have traits on this extraordinary journey. As I began to think about belief & hope in more detail, I realized one does come first.

First you must have hope. You start with a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. That’s hope. Then you believe a certain thing will happen.

If you’re embarking on a new direction in life or just thinking about it, you already know about hope & belief in outcomes — that is, certain things happening the way you want. I’m pretty sure you’re hoping and believing in something right now. Great! 👏 Keep it going!

It’s probably no surprise then to hear that as you follow your own path, you’ll need to continually generate hope & belief in the outcomes you desire. Why? Because these two ingredients are powerful 💥 predictors of outcomes.

But what about hope & belief in you? Not just in the outcomes…

What feelings of expectations and desire do you have of yourself? What do you hope becomes of you? For example, I hope that I may experience a greater sense of well being as I follow my path. Or I hope that I may overcome any challenges set before me as I walk my unique way.

After you assess the hope you have for yourself, move on to the beliefs you have about yourself. Do you believe in yourself? What do you believe about yourself? You’ll probably hear a doubtful little voice come up as you list your beliefs but keep going until you have 5 – 10 positive beliefs. For example, I believe I am blessed. I believe I am supported. I believe I am smart.

With hope & belief in yourself you’ll follow your unique path successfully.

When challenges come up, they help to grow and strengthen the hope & belief you have. Of course there will be challenges and obstacles, but you’ve got hope & belief in yourself!  With this understanding, you’ll always overcome.

#5 Faithfulness : Do you love your dream?

Are you faithful to it? Are you dedicated to your vision?

Your vision is the imagery of your dream. The dream represents the love of a co-creative relationship between you and the great universe, the universal life force energy! The journey you’re on is the unique path you take to actualize the dream.

How do you show your love? Are you faithful to keep going as the path unfolds?

We know too well that life gets in the way. We can get pulled into lots of different directions and priorities. Because of this, practice faithfully coming back to your heart space — the place where the love for your vision lives.

Your heart is what holds the love you have for your vision. When you lose momentum, faithfully returning to your heart space will keep you going forward. This is because faithfulness is a steadfast kind of love.

Therefore to follow your unique path, faithfulness to your dreams is required.

Wait! There’s more 🙂 . For the last 5 characteristics to following your path, continue reading here

Am I An Empath?

“Having a soft heart in a cruel world is courage, not weakness” – Katherine Henson

Am I An Empath?

Dear Courageous One, are you an empath?

One of the reasons Courageous Ones have courage is because they’re not afraid of feelings. Lots of people avoid “the feels” because they can be too uncomfortable. In life, it takes courage to face feelings.

Do you identify with being more comfortable in the realm of feelings and emotions than other people you know? Do you naturally understand the feelings and emotions of others? Do people tend to come to you to express their feelings and emotions? Do you easily go beyond sympathizing and go to putting yourself in other people’s shoes? Have you ever been told “you’re too sensitive”?  Do you sometimes feel as though you can practically feel everything?

That has to do with being an empath. If you’re reading this, I think intuitively you already know you’re an empath and you’re searching for info to validate that.

I didn’t always know that I was an empath. Even when everything added up, I still didn’t really believe it. I wondered, ‘is empath a real thing?’ I thought I might be making my experiences up. That was a very long time ago, when I was learning about my true self. So my purpose today is to validate your experience as an empath because the truth of who you are is always within.

As an empath you can feel on an expansive level.

Empaths have the ability to put on other people’s feelings. What this means is that they have the ability go beyond just relating to other people’s feelings; it’s that they’re actually able to feel the feelings of other people as though they are their own.

Empaths absorb other people’s emotions and they tend to feel those emotions exponentially. For example, if someone else nearby is feeling sadness an empath will pick up on this energy frequency and take it home with them without realizing. Then when they start to feel sad or they feel like they were happy a moment ago and all of a sudden their own energy shifts to sadness, they wonder why.

It may feel uncomfortable not knowing why you’re experiencing a change of mood or energy because it can catch you off guard. Though, once you realize that it’s your super power you’ll be able to more easily get back to feeling yourself again and being grounded.

The energy of sadness in a space may be subtle but the empath will still pick it up. Being sensitive to their environment, the empath experiences the sad energy at a higher rate and higher frequency. This is because they are highly attuned to energy.

Empaths have a heightened sense of energy.

Being an empath is similar to that black colored fabric we’ve all worn that picks up lint from everywhere and everything. It’s inevitable that they will get overwhelmed by all the “lint” they pick up. Just like the black fabric that needs a lint remover, the empath needs customized tools to clean up their own energy field from the “lint” that’s left on them.

As for what those customized tools may be, that’ll be for another dedicated separate post!

While it does sound pretty cool to be highly attuned to energy and frequencies, the “side effects” can be not so cool.

Below are some descriptions of the “side effects” which may not sound like the most optimistic part of being an empath to focus on. But I’d like to shine some light on this part because …

…my deepest intention is that you learn about yourself and love and accept yourself as an empath.

Empowered with the wisdom, knowledge and love of your true self, you will take better care of your vital life force energy and experience spiritual well being here and now.

One of the “side effects” that an empath may experience is being susceptible to exhaustion, drained of their energy and getting physically sick. This tends to happen as a result of being in loud large busy crowds, being around certain types of personalities and energies or certain places.

Take a concert for example. Being an empath, you may opt out of going to concerts all together. If you do decide to go, you need to do mind your own energy to help protect yourself from feeling sick or tired during and afterwards.

There are certain personality types that can make an empath feel nauseous. They include but aren’t limited to very aggressive loud people, an always “on” high-energy personality, overly charming, big personality types. Different personality types make up different energy qualities. Because the empath is highly attuned to energy, these and other types of energy may easily make them feel overwhelmed, over stimulated and even assaulted.

For the most part empaths tip toward the introverted side of the scale. An introvert might be able to relate. Many of the characteristics of an introvert match up with those of an empath. For example, in psychology the theory goes that introverts are easily stimulated and overstimulated. Compared to extroverts, they’re more sensitive to external stimulation and have higher level of arousal, similar to what an empath experiences.

Many empaths are introverts but that doesn’t mean they’re the same thing. The most important difference between an Introvert and Empath is that being introverted is an inherently biological difference in how people react to external stimuli or certain situations. In empaths, it’s their brains’ Mirror Neuron System that is thought to be hyperactive, according to Dr. Judith Orloff, author of the book “The Empath’s Survival Guide”.

Just think hyperactive compassion? The Mirror Neuron System is a specialized group of cells in the brain that are responsible for compassion and empathy. In empaths, it’s thought to be hyperactive hence why an empath can absorb other people’s energies into their bodies.

nguyen mei unsplash

Because empaths, like introverts, are sensitive to external stimulation they need time alone to help them recharge.

They will tend to feel physically better in smaller groups of people because it lessens energy drain. It’s imperative that an empath spend time alone to regain their centered strength.

Alone time is non-negotiable.

Any activities in nature or outdoors are always good for them.

As an empath, when you’re in nature you easily and quickly replenish yourself through the universal life force energy that’s flowing freely all around.

Getting out, being in nature near trees, flowers, grass, parks, bodies of water etcetera is another non-negotiable.

High energy activities for an empath will often involve new experiences, adventure, travel, spontaneity, the outdoors and nature. These types of high energy activities are life-giving and replenishing to you. These are things that deep down you’d like to do but maybe haven’t because you’re big heart is busy taking care of others.

Give yourself the gift of that big heart! In other words, be compassionate with yourself and practice the kind of care you give to others on yourself, too.

For those who aren’t empaths this stuff may sound dramatic and maybe like something from the New Age or a millennial stresser.

It can be hard to feel heard and understood by those closest to you. But rest assured, I got you! 🙂

No, friends and family, this isn’t just queen drama NOR is it a WEAKNESS. This is the experience of a person who feels the emotions of others. Furthermore, there are some empaths who can feel the â€œemotion” or energy of spaces and places, too. I’m one of those. How about you?

To your loved ones and close friends you may be considered quiet, unconventional, a free spirit or a little bit different. Empaths are unique, therefore it may be harder to understand or relate to them. But this does not go the other way around.

“Can You feel me?”

The ability to feel others but not necessarily be felt by others can be difficult to experience. This can lead an empath to feel alone, misunderstood or out of place. The gift of being highly attuned to other people’s energy can end up feeling like a burden.

You’re an empath, this is why it’s essential to your way of life that you spend time in nature, spend time meditating, spend time creating art, being physically active and consciously sharing your light. It’s in the acts of doing these activities you will be reciprocated regularly with renewed life force energy and grounding. You will be able to find and feel at home.

Finding and feeling at home is an important practice tool. Whenever you feel out of sorts, out of body, out of your emotions and feeling like you’ve been swept by the current of someone else’s stuff, finding your home base within helps to ground and release the energies of others more easily.

The more you feel at home within yourself, no matter where you are or who you’re with, you find home. It’s easier to know which emotions belong to you you and which ones belongs to others. Then you can start to let these feelings just pass through you instead of holding on to them in your body.

So what do you think? Are are you convinced you’re an empath yet?

If you’re still on the fence or if you have any questions about your experience, go to the comments area and share. When we share our life experiences it helps other Courageous Ones like you and me.

Sharing is caring!

And yes 🙂 I can help you determine whether you’re an empath, if you’re still not sure.

For now I leave you with this: Being an empath is not a weakness. It’s one of the magnificent gifts you give to everyone you meet!

Be you & Be true, Courageous One.

5 Ways to Experience Balanced Living Now

February 10, 2019 By ReginaofKiHealing

“In the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside of you” – Deepak Chopra

Some people think experiencing balance is a myth. That’s true, if you really believe that. Do you really believe that? I know there’s a good number of us who don’t want to give up on living a balanced life. We want to experience balanced living. We consider a balanced lifestyle a life value.

Are you someone who knows balance exists, considers it a personal value and wants to continue embracing it in this crazy modern living? If you said yes then you’re going to want to read this. Here are 5 super important ways to experience balanced living right now.

When we experience balance we experience peace. In times like this, our life feels like it’s flowing and we’re humming. Yet at other times, let’s face it — experiencing balance in our crazy fast paced modern living is definitely not as easy as pie.

A crazy fast paced modern life is like the antithesis to a peaceful harmonious simple life.  What can we do to make sure that we’re never too far away from our center, our source of balance? Even when we feel ourselves tipping over?

But before that, let’s quickly check in. Picture your days. Is this you? You’re usually tending to other people in your life. You’re visiting your elderly parents a couple of times a week now and they’re needing help with grocery shopping, too. Your kid has regular weekly practice and so do you. Oh and this week your cat has a vet appointment. In the back of your mind you know that at some point you’ve got to sit down to do some bookkeeping and don’t forget the car needs gas. Plus there’s your employment, too! Relate?

In any given week you know it’s not limited to the stuff above. There’s always something… It’s life. It’s hectic. Before you know it your center is losing ground. You’re being pulled in different directions and your balance is tipping. In the next moment, you’ve lost connection with your center of gravity. Instead of flow there’s tension now. You feel less than satisfied.

AARGH!

Now back to that earlier question. What can we do to make sure that we’re never too far away from our source of balance?

“Your body is your first home. Breathing in I arrive in my body. Breathing out I am home.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

1) First thing always is, BREATHE. When we feel tension, we’re either holding our breath or we’re taking very shallow breaths. That keeps us out of balance. As soon as we activate conscious breathing, shifting our attention to our center we experience a sense of being grounded again. Always focus first on your breathing.

You can practice checking in with your breath, particularly at times when there’s lots going on. Are your holding your breath? Are you breathing fully? Use your breath like the life resource that it is.

There are lots of different breathing techniques to practice and maybe that will be the topic of a post of its own, but at the very basic when you consciously breathe using your diaphragm, you are reducing the stress response and facilitating the relaxation response instead.

Mindful breathing at the very basic level is when you focus your attention on the inhalation and exhalation of your breath. By doing this, not only are you developing a skillful way to deal with stress and negative emotions, but you’re also shifting yourself back to center therefore getting back to a balanced state of being.

Keep in mind that practice is everything. Be as consistent as you can be and expect yourself to commit.

Let’s do this. 🙂

2) The second way to experience a balanced lifestyle is to keep your perspective handy. Keep in mind that “This Too Shall Pass”.

Even though many people think this quote is from the bible, it isn’t. Its origins aren’t totally clear. Although “This Too Shall Pass” isn’t specifically in the bible, it’s an idea found throughout the bible. This quote is always speaking about the condition of our humanity –that we’re human, we’re mortals. From cradle to grave, we live we die, beginnings and ends. But in between that lots happens. We all know there’s a season for everything.

Herein lies the reliable level perspective of the words, “This Too Shall Pass”.

Think back to a difficult challenge you’ve gone through. Now think back to a happy wonderful time in your life. Now think of yourself today.

So much has passed, right? So many moments and experiences have come to pass. Your awesome amazing courageous self has passed through all of it.

Maybe you’re presently going through a difficult moment.  Pause. Rest your heart and mind on the words “this too shall pass”.

Type the quote up with an affirming image and post it where you continually see it so you can give yourself the gift of this perspective.

3) Remember to Find Your Joy. When we feel tight and stressed our egoic mind becomes overactive. When it’s overactive there’s a lot of commentary, conceptualizing and analyzing happening.  Our head gets loud and noisy with too much thinking. Too much thinking and letting yourself hang out too long “upstairs” will take us away from being balanced and centered.  This is exactly when you need to remember to find your joy because it will get you out of your head and into the joy of your present moment.

When do you feel happy inside? What feels good? What are you doing?

When we’re connected to the energy of joy, not only are we being present we’re connecting to our heart space, the seat of love and compassion. Being in joy allows for the heart space to expand and take up more room in our experience. Worry, stressful thinking, fear can take a break. Allow your mind to rest and reset. Enjoying present moments is good for the whole you. It’s restorative and nourishing which naturally brings you back to balance.

Remember to find your joy is taking a loving stand for yourself. Really try reaching out a hand to the ‘You’ who highly values living in balance, who values spiritual wellness, the whole ‘You’.  Purposely do what makes you smile on the inside. Let it effortlessly take your mind off things and experience balance now.

4) The fourth way to experience balanced living is to Relax yourself. The idea here is that it begins with your body. For example, a mineral salt bath with aromatherapy makes a wonderful retreat or give yourself the gift of a massage. Those kinds of things give your body those happy physical sensations that spread to the mind. When this happens, both your body and mind have calmed down and have come to a rest stop. You experience body mind balance.

Turning Aaargh into Aaahhhh …

Aaaahhhhh…

You can start with a physical activity like martial arts or yoga. Meditation, too. Running, a walk in the rain or a long hike? Maybe for you taking a warm bath does wonders.

What relaxes you? Your body and mind?

The fourth way to experience balance in life is to give yourself ways of relaxing, starting with the body first. When you do this you’re creating a positive pleasurable sensory experience and putting your body into the relaxation response.

It’s the relaxation response that turns off the stress response. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system which controls reducing the heart rate, blood pressure, rate of breathing and sweat production. Physical sensory stuff.

You can feel really good about relaxing. It’s good for us. Be courageous in loving yourself and in your life values. Brush off any feelings of guilt you may have about relaxing. Be courageous in your life values. Relax yourself for your spiritual wellness — body mind spirit health. Relax yourself to experience a well balanced life and beyond!

Let’s do this 🙂

5) The fifth way to experience balanced living is … Are you ready?

Ready to commit?

Committing to things, let alone new things, I know isn’t easy for everyone. There’s the not-afraid-of-commitment-type people, but for those of us who love our freedom commitments aren’t always first priority. A casual flexible approach is more our style. But, if we want to experience a well balanced life because it’s a life value, we’ll need to commit to it.

The good thing is that this literally means committing to the practice of living in balance. “The practice” is the regular doing of the stuff which allows us to actually experience balance. We’re intentionally engaging in the practice of nourishing  inner peace and harmony.

Don’t give up on what you believe in. (That should include you, too). Each day and any given moment is an opportunity to re-commit to our spiritual wellness, the whole version of ourselves.

Are you in?

Let’s do this.

In the spirit of community we join together in our commitment to experiencing balance starting now.

Please share in the comments below about the wins and the challenges of this commitment. What does a balanced lifestyle mean to you? What’s it look like? We’re here to learn from one another! 🙂

Be you & Be true, Courageous one.

Life Purpose and Multipotentiality

May 19, 2014 By ReginaofKiHealing

I’m not usually into labels. I usually feel that labeling things can be harmful because our minds go to automatic default and suddenly the mind and thoughts are in a box. So for me, labels can end up being like containers that box up people’s experiences, confining them.  Though, what labels intend to do is define unknowns.  Labels want to be helpful to us through providing us with a definition or framework for something. That being said, I want to introduce a label that could be helpful to you. It can help you embrace more of who you are. It’s called multi-potentiality.

Multipotentiality is an educational and psychological word that describes you if you are gifted with multiple potential. How do you know if you are a multipotential type of person? Before answering that, let’s back up to why I’m covering this in the first place.

Many of the people that I’m so lucky to meet and know, are brilliant people gifted in many diverse areas who aren’t always aware of their special qualities for lots of reasons. Much of my purpose is to help women discover  for themselves just how truly gifted they are. They don’t realize their gifts because they’ve hardly been acknowledged for them and instead tend to feel sad, depressed, bored or overwhelmed with their life (which includes their work) because deep inside they know they should be doing something else or living another way.

So many multi-talented women are feeling stuck because they’ve found themselves in a box when they really want to have meaningful joyful lives. I totally get that. For a long time I was always trying to fit myself into boxes. I thought I had to. I thought it was the only way. Since those days, I’ve discovered that there are many ways to a meaningful, joyful, loving life. Sometimes, one of the ways is to get real with yourself and realize that you are not one to be in the box. It’s alright if you’re not for the box.

So the reason for this post on multipotentiality is to help women like you –  independent, savvy,  creative and resourceful women with multiple interests and passions discover that you are built to be exactly who you are. And that it’s something to feel really good about.  If you can identify with being a multipotential, start to swim with the current instead of swimming upstream. Life is hard enough already. Learning about yourself and how you can create optimal conditions for yourself  will prove to be very helpful.

How do you know if you are a multipotential?

  • Do you have or know someone who has many interests across different areas?
  • Have you ever told anyone or has anyone ever told you, “Jack of all trades, master of none?”
  • Is it hard for you to choose on what you want to spend your time doing because you have so many options? And while you like having  many options sometimes it can be stressful deciding which to spend time in?
  • Do you ever wonder if you have or ever had ADHD?
  • Do you ever get  bummed out when you think you’re not doing everything you can do, like you’re not employing all of your abilities?
  •  Do you feel like because you can’t focus on one thing, you must be confused?
  • Have you ever considered yourself a Renaissance women?
  • Are you or someone you know intently and intensely curious?
  • Do you feel like you could pretty much learn anything?
  • Do you love to tinker around?

poster of multipotentialite descriptions

The truth is, multipotential is defined as the state of having many exceptional talents, any one or more of which could make for a great career for that person. Gifted children often (though of course not always) have multipotentiality. Their advanced intellectual abilities and their intense curiosity make them prime candidates for excelling in multiple areas. – Tamara Fisher in Education Week

Everyone always tells you it’s better to focus in one direction. It’s better to be good at one thing than not very good at a bunch of things. But for a multipotential person, there is true love in learning and expressing many things. The idea of it being “better” to be good at one thing versus not very good at a bunch of things has always struck me as very black and white, narrow thinking.

Who says that if you’re into a bunch of things  you’re not going to be very good at any of them? More importantly, why does being “good, great, or perfect” matter so much?

For a multipotential, the pursuit  isn’t so much about excellence as it is about wonder, exploration, expression, growth and even adventure. I’ve found it a big relief to forego the measuring of excellence and to learn how to be in the present moment with whatever I’m doing, experiencing enjoyment and feeling alive.

Having so many interests that you can pursue and actually be pretty darn good at can feel like a blessing and a curse. But stress more on how it’s a blessing.

Here’s What You Can Do

Journaling Exercise: Ask yourself, “how are all my interests and ideas a blessing to me?”  “How might this be a blessing to others?”  Take the time to sit and ponder these two question for about 20 – 30 minutes and journal what you come up with.

Spiritual Practice: Practice believing that you are super- blessed to have so many fruitful ideas, interests and abilities with (what I call) Ping Pong Think. For example, pretend your mind is the ping pong table and your playing the house which is your mind, okay?

Instead of accepting a cursed mentality “serve” a blessed mentality right back to your mind, the way it is in ping pong. It’ll be like:

Cursed Mentality: “What’s wrong with me? I can’t settle into anything for the life of me. I’m lame for not being able to be as single minded as my friends. Maybe I need to be more like them. I don’t know what I’m doing.”

Blessed Mentality: “There is nothing wrong with me. This is the way God Universe has designed me. I guess I’m unique because I’m curious about life. I want to spend my days truly living. I’m energized and my mind is illuminated. I’m free to explore life and myself. I know that’s what I want to do.”

Tip Time!

Tip#1:  Keep practicing Ping Pong Think and you’ll start to believe, know, and trust that you are blessed to be this way, not cursed. You are gifted with the specific way you light up.

Tip #2: Keep lighting yourself up! It’ll enrich your life and the life of others who know you.

Tip #3: Go with the current and you’ll start to see a pattern of interconnectedness in all that you do. Don’t worry, there is definitely a single thread running through all of your pursuits, but you must learn to swim with the current not upstream.

Tip #4: If you’re stressed or overwhelmed about finding your purpose, it won’t matter so much where you start but that you start. Remember: there is a reason you’re designed in this special way. So, take the road trip of your life and set out to discover what all your potential is. You’ll find meaning, joy, peace and love and as if that weren’t enough, you’ll get that deep sense of purpose you’re looking for.

Three Ways You Can Start Living On Purpose Now:

  • Accept that you are not one to be in the box (and that is a wonderful thing!)
  • Accept that you are blessed to be able to be pretty darn good at anything you do.
  • Pursue your multiple interests right now (pull the plug on the boob tube and play the ukulele!)

And one last thing I’d like to leave you with … live in joy, always be you and believe that you’re destined.
